Dorothea Weltecke is a Full Professor for the History of Religions and Religious Cultures at the University of Constance (Germany), serving as Principal Investigator in the Center of Excellence 'Cultural Foundations of Integration' since 2007. She held a Käte Hamburger Kolleg Visiting Research Fellowship (2011–2012) in Bochum, focusing on religious tolerance in the 12th–13th centuries. Her research employs a transcultural and comparative approach to study intra/inter-religious dynamics in Europe and the Middle East, with emphasis on religious minorities, violence, and the period 500–1500 CE.
