معرفی
Dorothea Fiedler is a Professor of Chemical Biology at Humboldt University Berlin and Head of the Chemical Biology I department at the Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) since 2015. She previously held an Assistant Professor position at Princeton University (2010-2015) and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, San Francisco (2006-2010).
Education:
- Diplom in Chemistry, Julius-Maximilians Universität Würzburg (2001)
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, University of California at Berkeley (2005)
Her research focuses on chemical biology, particularly inositol phosphate metabolism, pyrophosphorylation mechanisms, and the development of chemical tools to study protein signaling and metabolic networks. She has pioneered chemoenzymatic synthesis methods for inositol pyrophosphates and created fluorescent sensors for detecting pyrophosphorylated proteins.
Her recent publications highlight advancements in understanding inositol phosphate messengers using NMR spectroscopy, non-hydrolyzable analogs, and chemical derivatization techniques. These works bridge organic chemistry, biochemistry, and systems biology to unravel molecular signaling pathways.
Scientific Awards:
- NIH Director’s New Innovator Award (2013)
- Rita Allen Scholar Award (2013)
- Kimmel Scholar Award (2013)
- NIH Pathway to Independence Award (2009)
- Fasttrack Program, Robert Bosch Stiftung (2007)
- Schering Stiftung Postdoctoral Fellowship (2007)
- Young Investigator Award (ACS Inorganic Division) (2005)
- Bayer AG Fellowship (for Diploma thesis abroad) (2000)
- German National Merit Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes) (1998)
Fiedler serves as Managing Director of the FMP since 2017 and is a PI in the Cluster of Excellence UniSysCat. She contributes editorially to ChemBioChem and ACS Chemical Biology, emphasizing her leadership in chemical biology research.
