Michael Bierylo is a Professor and Chair of the Electronic Production and Design Department at Berklee College of Music since 1995. He leads initiatives such as the Electronic Digital Instrument Program, Electronic Performance Minor, and Creative Coding Minor. His expertise spans electronic music, sound design, and music technology, with collaborations involving residencies with artists like Suzanne Ciani and Hank Shocklee.
As a performer, he is a member of Birdsongs of the Mesozoic and has toured internationally with modular synthesizers and laptop performances alongside Grammy-nominated artists. Bierylo actively contributes to Berklee Online, authoring courses like Music Production 101 and Sound Design for the Electronic Musician.
He chairs the Audio Engineering Society’s Electronic Instrument Design Track, fostering industry collaboration with hardware innovators like Moog and Roland. His work bridges academic leadership, artistic innovation, and technological advancement in music.
