Michael Becker

Michael Becker is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Science, and a Research Scientist. His research focuses on diagnostics for SARS-CoV-2 and sexually transmitted/blood-borne infections (STBBIs), emphasizing rapid testing solutions for Northern, Remote, and Isolated (NRI) communities. He explores wastewater surveillance for early outbreak detection and public health monitoring in remote settings.

Teaching includes courses such as MBIO 3410 (Molecular Biology), BIOL 1000 (Biology: Foundations of Life), and others. His work aims to improve healthcare access for underserved populations through innovative technologies.
