Michael Aram Hovnanian is an Instructor of Double Bass at the Irving S. Gilmore School of Music, Western Michigan University. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) and Master of Music (M.M.) from Michigan State University, and a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Music and Music Education from Central Michigan University. Hovnanian is actively involved in orchestral performance as the assistant principal bassist of the Grand Rapids Symphony, and has performed with ensembles such as the Detroit Symphony, Kalamazoo Symphony, and Lansing Symphony. He also participates in the Grand Rapids Symphony’s educational initiatives, including the Super Nova String Quintet and the Music for Health program.
