Michael A. Zilis is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Political Science at the University of Kentucky. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and researches law/courts and political behavior. His work examines how media coverage influences public perception of Supreme Court decisions and the tension between minority rights and institutional legitimacy.
Research focuses include:
- Judicial legitimacy and group attitudes
- Media framing of legal conflicts
- Strategic judicial decision-making
Honors include the College of Arts & Sciences Teaching Award and recognition for his books The Rights Paradox and The Limits of Legitimacy.
