Dr. Micah Hahn serves as an Associate Professor of Environmental Health within the Division of Population Health Sciences at the Institute for Circumpolar Health Studies, University of Alaska Anchorage. Her research program addresses climate-driven public health challenges through community-engaged science and adaptation strategy development.
Her academic credentials include:
- Joint PhD in Epidemiology and Environment & Resources from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
- MPH in Global Environmental Health from Emory University
- Postdoctoral fellowship with the CDC Climate and Health Program, collaborating with CDC's Division of Vector-borne Diseases and the National Center for Atmospheric Research
Dr. Hahn's research integrates environmental epidemiology, spatio-temporal exposure analysis, and mixed-methods approaches to investigate health impacts from climate stressors including vector-borne diseases, wildfire smoke, extreme heat, air pollution, and food insecurity. Her work emphasizes co-production of knowledge with Arctic communities to develop locally tailored resilience strategies across circumpolar regions.
Through sustained partnerships with federal agencies (including CDC), academic institutions, and Indigenous communities, her program translates scientific findings into actionable public health interventions. This collaborative framework prioritizes culturally appropriate solutions for climate adaptation in vulnerable northern populations.
