Ruby Fried

Ruby Fried, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Circumpolar Health Studies (part of the University of Alaska Anchorage), affiliated with the Division of Population Health Sciences. Her research focuses on the social, nutritional, cultural, and economic factors influencing health outcomes in Alaska Native communities, particularly examining intergenerational impacts of traditional/subsistence foods, food security, and health disparities through community-driven methodologies. She earned her Ph.D. at Northwestern University and has conducted health-related projects in Alaska, Chicago, the Philippines, and Ecuador.
