Micaela W. Janan

Micaela W. Janan is a Professor of Classical Studies at Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. Her work focuses on Latin literature, gender and identity in antiquity, and interdisciplinary approaches including psychoanalytic and feminist theory. She holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University (1988) and a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz (1979).

Her research explores themes such as Roman and Greek sexuality, the intersection of literature and psychoanalysis, and the political dimensions of classical texts. Notable publications include analyses of Ovid's Metamorphoses, Statius' Silvae, and Augustan elegy.
