Professor Andreas Michalopoulos is a faculty member at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, appointed in both the Department of Philology and Department of History and Archaeology. He has been teaching Latin language and literature since 2007, following academic appointments at the University of Leeds, University of Thessaly, and Democritus University of Thrace.
- BA in Classical Philology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1993)
- MA and PhD in Latin, University of Leeds (1994-1997) under Greek state scholarship
His research focuses on Augustan poetry, Ancient Etymology, and Roman literary genres including drama, novel, and lyric, with a special interest in the modern reception of classical literature. His publications examine Ovid's Metamorphoses, Heroides, and Augustan-era lyric and epic poetry.
Professor Michalopoulos has authored monographs on Roman literature, including Ancient Etymologies in Ovid's Metamorphoses (2001) and commentaries on Ovid's Heroides (2006, 2013). He has co-authored didactic works on Horace and Roman epic poetry, reflecting his commitment to classical education.
