Mia von Euler is a Professor of Neurology at Örebro University and Senior Consultant at Örebro University Hospital. Since 2020, she has served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health. She holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Karolinska Institutet (1999) and became a specialist in Neurology (2007) and Clinical Pharmacology (2013). Her academic roles include Associate Professor at Karolinska Institutet (2007) and lecturer positions since 2013.
Her research focuses on stroke mechanisms, neuropharmacology, and gender disparities in healthcare. Key projects include registry-based studies (Riksstroke, EVAS), clinical trials, and collaborations on thrombectomy outcomes and dementia-stroke interactions. She chairs the Swedish Stroke Action Plan and leads national quality registries.
Teaching spans neurology, clinical pharmacology, and gender medicine courses. She has supervised seven PhD students to completion and currently mentors six more. Notable contributions include advancing stroke care equity, improving thrombectomy protocols, and analyzing pandemic impacts on stroke patients.
Her work bridges clinical practice and research, emphasizing evidence-based medicine and healthcare optimization. Ongoing projects include stroke rehabilitation via virtual reality and longitudinal studies on socioeconomic stroke disparities.
