Mia Siven is an Associate Professor of Sustainable Pharmacy at the University of Helsinki, affiliated with the Faculty of Pharmacy, Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, and the Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS). She serves as a Senior Lecturer and Docent in Industrial Pharmacy, while also contributing to the Teachers' Academy and DAPHNE - Developing Assessment Practices in Higher Education program.

Her research focuses on sustainable pharmaceutical practices, including AI-driven manufacturing optimization, amorphous solid dispersion stability, and environmentally responsible drug delivery systems. Recent work explores digital health solutions for controlled substance surveillance and geriatric dosage form innovation.
Key publications include advancements in AI quality control for tablet compression (2025), 3D printing applications in pharmaceuticals (2024), and EU pregnancy prevention program evaluations (2024). She has secured funding from Business Finland and Academy of Finland for projects like LifeFactFuture LFF and FPD-Include.
