Meyrick Alexander

Meyrick Alexander is a distinguished bassoonist and educator. He served as Principal Bassoon of the Philharmonia Orchestra for 30 years and currently holds principal roles with the London Chamber Orchestra. He has extensive experience with UK orchestras, period instrument ensembles, and contemporary music groups, alongside solo performances and film soundtrack contributions.

In academia, he is a tutor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where he previously held the position of Head of Woodwind. He has also taught at the Royal Northern College of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he earned a Fellowship for developing the Orchestral Artistry course. Meyrick delivers masterclasses globally, spanning the UK, Europe, USA, Australia, and the Far East.
