Metin Coşgel is a Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Economics at the University of Connecticut. His work focuses on long-term economic history, particularly the Ottoman Empire, state-religion dynamics, and the impact of diversity in 19th-century American whaling. He holds a faculty position in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
