Meryl Fiedler Lieberman ’81 serves as a Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Law at New York Law School, where she also holds a seat on the NYLS Board of Trustees and chairs the litigation section of the Venable Summer Simulation program. Her legal career spans over 40 years, including founding and growing Traub Lieberman, a nationally recognized law firm with expertise in insurance coverage litigation and professional liability.
- Education: J.D. (magna cum laude) from New York Law School, B.A. (magna cum laude) from City College of New York
Lieberman’s research areas include insurance law, civil litigation, and professional liability, informed by her extensive practice in complex insurance coverage disputes, toxic torts, and catastrophic injury litigation. She has developed pioneering curriculum for NYLS’s insurance law courses and innovated experiential learning through the Venable Summer Simulation program.

As a Trustee at NYLS, Lieberman contributes to academic governance, including roles on the Executive, Academic Affairs, and Budget and Finance Committees. She previously chaired Traub Lieberman’s complex insurance coverage practice for over two decades, scaling the firm from 4 to nearly 100 lawyers.
