Dr. Merry Beth Low serves as the World Languages Coordinator and Lecturer of French and Italian at the University of West Florida, affiliated with the Reubin O'D. Askew Department of Government within the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. She specializes in French and Italian female spiritual writing of the 16th century, post-WWII European literature and film, and global language education. Her teaching includes beginner/intermediate French, Italian, French film, and honors humanities courses.
Education:
- Ph.D. and M.A. in French Language and Literature, Florida State University
- M.A. in Religion, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary
- B.A. in International Relations and French, Samford University
Her research interests focus on Renaissance and Reformation-era cultural movements, with a commitment to service learning and study abroad programs. She actively contributes to the university’s language initiatives and global cultural education efforts.
