Mary E. McCullough is Professor of French and French Program Director at Samford University's Howard College of Arts and Sciences, Department of World Languages and Cultures. She joined Samford in 2001 after teaching at Michigan State University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Paris Nanterre University, and Baylor University. Her international background includes upbringing in Marseilles, France, and education at Black Forest Academy in Germany.

Research Interests: McCullough specializes in Francophone North African women's literature, Maghrebian diaspora film/literature, and French narratives of World War II. Her work critically examines domesticity, gender representation, and post-colonial identity in cultural productions.

- Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad to Egypt (2005) for women and Islam research
- Fulbright Scholarship in Tunisia (2007-08) for Tunisian film studies
- DAAD/Goethe-Institut Stipend for German language studies in Dresden (2014)
Leadership and International Engagement: She served as Faculty Senate Chair (2018-19) and led courses at Samford's Daniel House in London on immigrant communities (2006) and WWII monuments/gender (2015).
