Dr. Merli Tamtik is an Associate Professor (with tenure) at the Faculty of Education, University of Manitoba. She serves as Acting Associate Dean (Graduate Programs and Research) and Vice-President of the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education (CSSHE). Her work focuses on post-secondary education, internationalization, education policy, and Indigenous innovation.

Her research examines international education policy in Canada, administrative responses to crises (including pandemic leadership), and Indigenous knowledge systems in innovation. She has secured grants for studies on workload creep in SSH disciplines, Indigenous youth entrepreneurship, and private pathway colleges' role in internationalization. Her award-winning book International Education as Public Policy in Canada analyzes federal-provincial tensions and immigration linkages.
Scientific awards include:
