Merete Ellegaard is a Lecturer and Assistant Director Musices at Linköping University (LiU) since 2009. She leads the Linköping University Symphony Orchestra and Women’s Choir (Linnea), overseeing courses in orchestral and choral activities at the Department of Culture and Communication. Her background includes studies in oboe at Gothenburg’s Academy of Music and Drama and conducting at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Ellegaard has extensive experience as an orchestral conductor, educator, and leader, with freelance engagements in both professional and amateur orchestras.
She is deeply involved in LiU’s music initiatives, including organizing events like the Nordic Student Singers’ Summit and Walpurgis Night celebrations. A notable research project she contributed to, funded by the Erasmus program (2020), explored how music enhances student creativity and collaboration. Ellegaard also plays a key role in LiU’s music scene through programs like the Linköping Academic Orchestra (LAO), emphasizing community engagement and accessible music education.
Her work bridges artistic leadership and academic teaching, fostering musical talent while contributing to LiU’s cultural legacy during its semi-centennial celebrations (2023–2025).
