Meredith Ordonez Cruz

Meredith Ordonez Cruz, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where she also serves as Director of the Maternal Fetal Care Center and the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship Program. She joined the institution in 2012 after completing a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Illinois Hospital. Dr. Cruz specializes in high-risk obstetrics, maternal critical care, and prenatal diagnosis, with expertise in hypertension, diabetes, and cardiac conditions during pregnancy.

Dr. Cruz holds a B.S. with Honors from the University of Wisconsin, an MPH/MBA in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Illinois Chicago, and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Wisconsin Medical School. Her research focuses on hypertensive and cardiac diseases in pregnancy, with peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national conferences. She is actively involved in professional organizations such as ACOG and SMFM and contributes to community health through volunteer work at free clinics.

Her clinical interests include placenta accreta spectrum, cervical insufficiency, and cesarean hysterectomies. Recent research trends emphasize gestational diabetes management, pharmacotherapy timing, and placental biology. Dr. Cruz leads a grant-funded project on advancing equity in maternal and child health. She is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine and speaks English and Spanish.
