Meredith Clermont-Ferrand

Meredith Clermont-Ferrand is a Professor in the English Department at Eastern Connecticut State University, specializing in medieval literature. Previously, she taught at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota and earned her PhD in medieval literature from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (1999). She currently serves as the social media coordinator for the International Hoccleve Society.

Her research focuses on Thomas Hoccleve’s poetry, intersections of disabled and queer identities in fifteenth-century literature, and Geoffrey Chaucer. Teaching interests include British Literature Survey, Chaucer, and literary theory.

Publications include books on the Bayeux Tapestry (2004), Jean d’Angoulême’s Canterbury Tales (2008), and articles analyzing Rabelais’ Gargantua and Pantagruel (2009) and Joan of Arc in medieval chronicles (2011).
