Meredith A. Kelly is Professor and Chair of the Department of Earth Sciences at Dartmouth College, where she has progressed from Assistant Professor (2009-2015) to Associate Professor (2015-2022) and currently Professor (2022-present). Prior to Dartmouth, she held research positions at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University and The Ohio State University.
Her educational background includes:

- M.S. in Quaternary Studies from University of Maine (1999)
- B.S. in Geological Sciences and Environmental Studies from Tufts University (1995)
Dr. Kelly's research centers on advancing knowledge of terrestrial records of past climate change across timescales from centuries to millions of years. She specializes in glacial geologic studies with broader interests in Quaternary studies and geomorphology. Her methodological expertise includes surface-exposure dating using cosmogenic nuclides (particularly Beryllium-10) and analysis of lake and bog sediment records through the Dartmouth Quaternary Geology Laboratories.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on tropical glacier responses to climate change across multiple continents. Her work demonstrates consistent patterns in Holocene glaciation histories between tropical South America and Africa, while documenting region-specific deglaciation patterns in Greenland driven by distinct atmospheric and oceanic warming mechanisms. The research portfolio shows increasing sophistication in modeling approaches for reconstructing past glacier extents and equilibrium line altitudes.
