Christopher Darvill is a Senior Lecturer in Quaternary Environmental Change at the University of Manchester. His research reconstructs glacier and ice sheet responses to past climate change using geomorphology and geochronology, with field sites in Patagonia, Greenland, and North America.
He leads projects on Holocene ice retreat in Antarctica and Icelandic deglaciation dynamics. His lab group includes PhD students investigating Welsh ice caps, Himalayan glaciations, and Mediterranean-Tibetan climate linkages.
Publications integrate field observations with cosmogenic dating to understand ice sheet sensitivity. Recent work advances methodologies for predicting future cryospheric changes.
