Meredith A. Crowley is Professor of International Economics and Deputy Chair of Faculty at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Economics, and a Fellow of St. John's College. She also serves as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London and as a Research Coordinator at the Janeway Institute at Cambridge.
Her educational background includes a PhD (2001) and MS (1999) in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MPP (1996) in international trade and finance from Harvard, and an AB (1990) in Asian studies and chemistry from Bowdoin College.
Professor Crowley's research focuses on international trade, trade policy, and the economic implications of Brexit. Her work examines pricing-to-market dynamics, trade agreements, tariff policy, and currency invoicing in international trade. She has conducted extensive research on how trade policy uncertainty affects firm behavior, particularly in the context of Brexit and US-China trade relations.
Her recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on the economic impacts of trade policy changes, with particular attention to Brexit-related trade dynamics, pricing strategies in international markets, and the effects of trade agreements. Her work combines empirical analysis with policy relevance, often using detailed firm-level data to understand trade patterns and responses to policy shocks.

Her current projects include analyzing trade wars and market power reallocation in global export markets, as well as examining the swift decline of the British pound following the Brexit vote.
