Mercedes Cabrerizo is the Ware Foundation Associate Professor in Neuroscience and Learning at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Florida International University (FIU). Her research focuses on image and signal processing applied to neuroscience, particularly in epilepsy and neurology. She collaborates with institutions such as Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Baptist Hospital, and the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at FIU.
Her work includes advanced medical data analysis, including 3D source localization in epilepsy patients and EEG-triggered fMRI. She has pioneered IRB-approved protocols involving repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for epilepsy and depression treatments, as well as multimodal imaging for surgical planning. Dr. Cabrerizo’s affiliations include the FIU Neuroengineering program and the Brain Institute at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.
