معرفی
Meng Zhang is a Researcher at the Department of Business Law, Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM), specializing in the intersection of environmental law and trade law in the context of climate change. He also holds multiple international affiliations including as an EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the Centre for Climate Change Law and Governance at the University of Copenhagen, an affiliated researcher at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights, and a guest researcher at Ghent University.
His educational background includes a PhD in Law (Environmental Law) from Ghent University (Belgium) in 2021, with a dissertation titled 'Governance of Climate Technologies: the Role of International Environmental Law in Regulating and Facilitating Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)'.
Zhang's research focuses on critical issues at the nexus of climate policy and international trade law, particularly examining the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) from multiple dimensions - from its legal justifications to its broader geopolitical implications. His work employs a four-tier analytical framework to understand how trade measures can address climate change while maintaining compatibility with the multilateral trade system.
His recent publications reveal a strong trajectory in climate law research, with increasing focus on market-based climate solutions including emissions trading systems, green hydrogen regulation, and carbon border adjustments. His work demonstrates growing expertise in bridging legal frameworks with practical climate policy implementation across different jurisdictions.

He regularly contributes to international conferences including the EU Forum of Judges for the Environment and the European Environmental Law Forum.
As an active member of the European Environmental Law Forum and National Rapporteur for China in the Climate Change Litigation Initiative, Zhang bridges academic research with practical legal implementation in climate governance across multiple jurisdictions.
