معرفی
Meng Wei is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marine Geology and Geophysics at the University of Rhode Island. His research focuses on tectonic geodesy, fault mechanics, and natural hazards, with an emphasis on earthquake physics and numerical modeling of fault interactions. He also develops geodetic methods for nuclear test monitoring.
- Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD (2011)
- B.S. in Geophysics from Peking University (2004)
His work utilizes high-performance computing to simulate fault movements constrained by seismic and geodetic data, particularly in regions like the Salton Trough and subduction zones in Alaska. Recent articles highlight studies on slow slip events, dynamic earthquake triggering, and unconventional energy-induced seismicity.
The group has developed advanced techniques for integrating InSAR and GPS data to analyze crustal deformation, while also exploring decorrelation challenges in vegetated areas using satellite imagery.
Professor Wei's lab contributes to understanding fault mechanics through interdisciplinary approaches combining geophysical observations, numerical simulations, and machine learning applications.
