Melissa Stimell is Professor of the Practice in Legal Studies at Brandeis University, where she directs ENACT: The Abraham Feinberg Educational Network for Active Civic Transformation. She chairs both the Program in Social Justice and Social Policy and the Peace, Conflict, and Coexistence Studies program.
Her work bridges legal practice and education, focusing on child welfare systems, legislative advocacy, and public interest law. Stimell coordinates experiential learning initiatives including Brandeis Summer in The Hague and oversees social justice internships. She has received multiple university grants for developing experiential pedagogy, including the Davis Fellowship (2006).
Stimell's scholarship examines the intersection of legal systems and social policy, particularly concerning vulnerable populations. Her teaching emphasizes practical skill development for civic engagement and policy reform through direct legislative advocacy experiences.
