Melissa Monroe is a part-time Assistant Professor of Liberal Studies at The New School's Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts. She holds a PhD from Stanford University (1989) and has taught at Stanford and Fordham University previously. Her research focuses on stylistics, translation, and intersections between literature and science. She has authored three books: Machine Language (1997), On Trepanation and Human Nature (2014), and Medusa Beach and Other Poems (2020). Her poetry appears in journals like Parnassus: Poetry in Review and Raritan.
Her teaching includes courses such as "Faith in Modern Lit", "The Personal & the Political", and "Cultural Criticism", emphasizing critical writing and interdisciplinary approaches.
