Melissa Mazmanian is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Informatics at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), with a joint appointment as Professor of Organization and Management in the Paul Merage School of Business.

Mazmanian investigates the societal and organizational impacts of communication technologies, emphasizing interaction layering, temporal control, and social class biases in tech hiring. Her work bridges Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), organizational theory, and digital identity studies.
