Melissa Herzog

Melissa Herzog is Associate Teaching Professor and Academic Advisor for Youth Development at the University of Missouri's Department of Human Development and Family Science. Her research focuses on prevention approaches for relationship education and social competence development.

Education includes:

• PhD in Family & Human Development from Arizona State University
• Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy

As Co-PI for ShowMe Healthy Relationships, a federally-funded program serving single adults in Missouri, she investigates relationship education outcomes, particularly for justice-involved individuals. Her work examines correlates of intervention response and develops evidence-based curricula for diverse populations.

Previous research includes managing evaluations for school-based social competence interventions for adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. She coordinates the Successful Adulting course, supporting emerging adults' practical life skills development.

Publications demonstrate expertise in social competence interventions, relationship education evaluation, and adolescent development. Recent work examines technology-assisted delivery methods and moderators of intervention effectiveness.
