Melissa Hartman is an Assistant Professor in the Education & Leadership department at Shenandoah University, specializing in special education. With 35 years of public education experience, she has worked with diverse disabilities including autism, learning disabilities, and emotional disabilities across both self-contained and co-taught settings.
Her research focuses on creating community-based transition programs, discipline methodologies, and special education foundations. She is deeply committed to relationship-building in educational settings and has published significant work on transcending barriers in special education.
Her educational background includes a B.S. from Kutztown University, M.Ed. from George Mason University, and Ed.S. and Ed.D. from George Washington University.
