Melissa Hartman

Melissa Hartman is a Lecturer in the Department of Communication at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She holds a BFA from UNK and has over 25 years of professional graphic design experience, including roles as a graphic artist, marketing team member, commercial art director, and freelance designer. Prior to UNK, she taught graphic design courses at Hastings College.

Her expertise spans communication design, graphic design principles, and the integration of visual messaging in multimedia contexts. She emphasizes the importance of analyzing and creating impactful visual and textual communications for diverse career paths.

Dr. Hartman’s professional background includes extensive industry experience combined with academic teaching, allowing her to bridge practical design skills with theoretical communication studies.
