Dr. Melanie White is an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology & Counselling at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She holds a PhD in Behaviour Genetics from QUT and has held previous appointments at the University of Southern Queensland and the Centre for Accident Research & Road Safety-Queensland (CARRS-Q). Her teaching focuses on psychology units related to behavioral neuroscience, applied cognitive psychology, and psychopharmacology of addictive behaviors.
Her research program examines cognitive function, impulsivity, executive function, and their contributions to risky behaviors, mental health, and wellbeing. Key areas include substance use, chronic pain, eating behaviors, and engagement in e-health programs. She has led numerous grants, including a Churchill Fellowship (2013) and multiple awards for research in road safety and health interventions. Melanie has supervised over 10 PhD and Master’s students, focusing on topics such as chronic pain management, dietary interventions, and addictive behaviors.
