Melanie Ulz

Melanie Ulz is a Deputy Professor (Vertretungsprofessorin) for Modern and Contemporary Art History at the Institute for Art and Art History, University of Duisburg-Essen. She has held previous deputy professorships at the Universities of Regensburg, Bielefeld, Osnabrück, Munich, Oldenburg, Zurich, and Heidelberg. Her research focuses on transcultural art history from the 18th to 21st centuries, with emphasis on postcolonial and gender studies, visual antiziganism in modernity, and artistic institutional criticism.
