Melanie Lührmann

Melanie Lührmann is a Professor of Economics at Royal Holloway, University of London, and holds affiliations with the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) as a Research Associate and CESifo Research Network as a Research Fellow. Her research focuses on Family Economics, Consumer Behaviour, Aging Economics, and Public Finance, with contributions to global Sustainable Development Goals related to poverty reduction and health.

Her work spans topics such as sanitation policy in developing economies, health promotion through regulatory frameworks, and the impact of education financing on youth aspirations. Notable projects include evaluations of sanitation interventions in Nigeria and policy submissions on food marketing restrictions.

Dr. Lührmann has organized interdisciplinary workshops on labor economics, childhood nutrition, and global health, reflecting her commitment to bridging theory and policy.
