Melanie Hayman

Melanie Hayman is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Course (HOC) for Allied Health at the Appleton Institute, School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences, CQUniversity Australia. She holds a BHMSc, MEd.Practice, and PhD. Her research focuses on physical activity during pregnancy, particularly improving exercise behaviors through eHealth technologies and developing clinical resources. She has led projects for the Australian Federal Government and Sports Medicine Australia, including the 2020 Exercise during Pregnancy guidelines. She teaches research-based units to allied health disciplines and has been an invited speaker at workshops for organizations like Exercise and Sports Science Australia.

Research interests include maternal health promotion, public health guidelines, and elite athlete return-to-sport postpartum. She is currently accredited for supervision in Sports Science and Public Health but unavailable for new candidates. Her work emphasizes translating evidence into clinical practice, with notable contributions to international guidelines and digital health interventions.

Teaching roles in 2025 include coordinating Skills for Allied Health Assistants and Research Methods units. Her professional activities include affiliations with Google Scholar, ORCID, and ResearchGate. She is based at the Rockhampton North campus.
