Melanie Gates is an Assistant Professor at MacEwan University, affiliated with the Department of Nursing Foundations and Science within the School of Nursing. Since 2018, she has focused on teaching theory-based classes and labs in the first two years of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program, after serving as a sessional instructor and clinical faculty navigator from 2002–2017.
Her research and scholarly expertise center on nursing education, with a focus on medical-surgical acute care, critical care nursing, neonatal critical care, ambulatory care, and health assessment. She emphasizes creating safe and engaging learning environments for students.
