Melanie Calvert

Melanie Calvert is Professor of Outcomes Methodology in the School of Applied Health Sciences and currently accepts PhD students. She leads a large portfolio of NIHR, Innovate UK and LifeArc projects focused on patient-centred research methodologies.

Research interests:

• Patient-reported outcomes and quality-of-life assessment
• Clinical trials methodology and dose-finding designs
• Psychometric validation and measurement properties
• Missing-data techniques for PROMs

Her 2025 publications reflect a concentration on methodological guidance (CONSORT-DEFINE, COSMIN v2.0), scale development for chronic kidney disease, equity in heart-failure datasets, and statistical handling of missing PROM data—demonstrating cross-cutting expertise in trial design, measurement science and epidemiology.
