Audrey Bowen is Professor of Neuropsychological Rehabilitation at University of Manchester and joint theme lead for Rehabilitation and Living With Disability at Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre. She specializes in stroke rehabilitation with focus on improving services for people with neuropsychological impairments and communication difficulties. Her research has impacted UK national policies through REF2021 and REF2014 cases.
Bowen leads multiple major projects including NIHR-funded trials on post-stroke psychological support and spatial neglect rehabilitation. She developed patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) like COAST and Carer COAST available through University of Manchester Innovation Factory.
Her work emphasizes patient and public involvement through dedicated stroke survivor advisory groups across all research projects. Bowen holds PhD from University of Leeds and MSc in Experimental and Clinical Neuropsychology from University of Wales.
