Mel Taylor is an Associate Professor at Macquarie University's School of Communication, Society and Culture, with a focus on disaster risk management and emergency communication. She holds adjunct roles at Western Sydney University and is an Honorary Associate Professor. Her research emphasizes low-probability, high-consequence events such as natural hazards, pandemics, and biosecurity threats. Key areas include psychosocial response to disasters, risk communication strategies, and community resilience.
