Meisam Babaie

Dr. Meisam Babaie is a Lecturer in Automotive Engineering at the School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Leeds, within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. He is affiliated with the Institute of Thermofluids and contributes to research and teaching in sustainable transport and energy systems.

His educational background includes a BEng, MSc, PgCert, and PhD from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia.

Dr. Babaie's research focuses on Net Zero Transport, particularly vehicle electrification using battery and fuel cell technologies. His work spans powertrain design, thermal management, emission reduction, and the application of AI and data mining in automotive and energy systems. He also explores connected and autonomous vehicles and sustainable energy integration. His research is highly interdisciplinary, involving collaborations with aerospace, environmental science, power engineering, and computer science domains.

His research has been supported by industrial and academic projects, involving experimental work and advanced simulations using industry-standard tools like AVL software.

Dr. Babaie actively supervises postgraduate researchers and contributes to curriculum development, programme leadership, and laboratory management. He has taught and supervised projects in electric vehicles, hydrogen technologies, and AI applications in energy.

He is involved with the Automotive and Autonomous Vehicle Technology Laboratory, Biofuel Engine Lab Facility (Australia), and Gunma University (Japan) through prior collaborations. His current base is the Institute of Thermofluids at the University of Leeds.
