Mei Zhang is an Assistant Professor at the School of Library and Information Science, Simmons University, joining in fall 2023. She holds a PhD in Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and previously served as a Postdoctoral Teaching Scholar at Syracuse University.

Dr. Zhang employs a socio-technical approach to investigate technology-professional interactions in scholarly publishing, focusing on organizational decision processes of libraries, publishers, and vendors regarding scholarly e-books. Her research aims to build sustainable scholarly communications ecosystems through stakeholder collaboration, with findings published in the Journal of Academic Librarianship, College & Research Libraries, and Learned Publishing, including a 2024 presentation at the International Conference on Publishing Studies.
She teaches metadata, collection development, e-resources management, database design, data analytics, and natural language processing courses including LIS 445 and LIS 453.
