Dr. Mehran M. Sadeghi is a Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at Yale School of Medicine, affiliated with the Cardiovascular Molecular Imaging Laboratory. He specializes in cardiovascular molecular imaging, focusing on vascular remodeling, fibrosis, and inflammation in diseases like atherosclerosis and aneurysms. His research integrates molecular biology, imaging, and clinical translation, addressing unmet diagnostic needs in cardiovascular medicine.
Education: MD from the University of Paris (1991). Completed residency and fellowship training at Yale New Haven Hospital, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Boyer Center for Molecular Medicine.
Research Interests: Molecular imaging of vascular and valvular remodeling, collagen turnover in myocardial infarction, and development of radiotracers for clinical diagnostics. His lab explores neuropilin-like proteins (e.g., ESDN) and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity as biomarkers.
Awards: Recipient of the Hermann Blumgart Award from the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). Past President of SNMMI’s Cardiovascular Council.
Grants & Labs: Leads the Cardiovascular Molecular Imaging Lab and collaborates with institutions like the Yale Biomedical Imaging Institute. Research involves federal grants targeting vascular biology and translational imaging technologies.
Clinical Roles: Treats cardiovascular diseases at Yale New Haven Hospital and the VA Medical Center. Active in clinical trials and diagnostic innovation.
