Mehmet Ayvaci is an Associate Professor of Information Systems at the Naveen Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas. He holds a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison (2012), an M.S. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University (2005), and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University (2003).
His research focuses on healthcare analytics, algorithmic decision making, and health IT economics. Key areas include optimizing transplant systems, AI-human collaboration in diagnostics, healthcare payment reforms, and mitigating biases in medical algorithms. He has published extensively in top journals like Nature Communications, MS&OM, and MIS Quarterly.
His work has addressed critical issues such as the economic value of transplant nephrologists, legal vulnerabilities from health IT systems, and the operational impact of health information exchanges. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for Operations Research, Service Science, and Healthcare Management Science.
