Mehdi Khedmati is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Accounting Impact Labs, Monash University. He has been accepting PhD students since 2015. His academic qualifications include a BSc in Computer Software Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, an MSc in Computer Systems Auditing from London Metropolitan University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics and Finance from Monash University, and a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Monash University.
His research focuses on corporate governance, board diversity, tax avoidance strategies, labor economics, and managerial behavior. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education-related areas. Key projects include leading the 'Impact of Educated Population: Evidence from Loan Contracts Around the World' (2021-2022) and co-leading 'Beyond the Balance Sheet: Exploring Material Human Capital Risk Disclosures in Australia' (2024-2025).
Dr. Khedmati has received the AFAANZ 2021/2022 Annual Research Fund Grant. His research output spans over 16 articles, with recent works analyzing boardroom dynamics, gender diversity in corporate decisions, and tax avoidance mechanisms. He actively reviews for journals such as Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Contemporary Accounting and Economics, and Accounting & Finance.
His academic collaborations extend globally, with notable contributions to labor market policies, equity mispricing, and institutional investor influences. His lab, the Accounting Impact Labs, focuses on translating academic insights into practical accounting and finance solutions.
