Mehdi Khatamifar

Mehdi Khatamifar is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at James Cook University's College of Science and Engineering. He completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from James Cook University in 2018 and has been with the institution since, first as a Lecturer (2018-2023) and subsequently promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2023.

Dr. Khatamifar's research spans computational fluid dynamics, natural convection, thermal management systems, and sustainable building design. His work focuses on practical applications in building heat transfer, ventilation, HVAC systems, solar energy technologies, and industrial safety structures. He has developed expertise in thermal management systems including heat sinks and heat exchangers, additive manufacturing of innovative heat-dissipating materials, and structural design for robust infrastructure solutions.

His recent publications reveal a strong focus on fluid dynamics and thermal engineering, with particular emphasis on natural convection phenomena, heat transfer optimization, and renewable energy applications. The research demonstrates consistent contributions to understanding boundary layer phenomena, thermal management in electronics, and solar energy systems, with applications ranging from telecommunication cabinets to electric vehicle battery systems.

Dr. Khatamifar actively supervises PhD candidates and seeks dedicated students for research opportunities in thermal-fluid sciences.
