Meghann Meeusen is a Master Faculty Specialist and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of English at Western Michigan University, within the College of Arts and Sciences. She plays a key role in graduate education and curriculum development, particularly in children's literature for education students.

Her research and teaching focus on children’s and adolescent literature, with an emphasis on critical analysis of ideology in texts and media. She explores how literature and visual culture shape young readers’ understanding of identity, equity, and society. Her work integrates pedagogical innovation, especially in equity-based and student-centered approaches in higher education. She has published on young adult dystopia, adapted comics, and critical fantasy studies, with a particular interest in how ideology functions in Disney theme parks and children’s streaming content.
Meeusen authored the book Children’s Books on the Big Screen (2020, University Press of Mississippi), which examines literary adaptations in film. Her current research investigates representation and pedagogy in contemporary children’s digital media.
Meghann Meeusen actively contributes to interdisciplinary collaboration, serving as a liaison between English and education programs to strengthen children’s literature coursework for future teachers.
She provides academic leadership through faculty development and curriculum design, supporting graduate teaching assistants and innovative course development.
