Dr. Meghan McGee-Lawrence is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Cellular Biology & Anatomy at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University. Her research focuses on bone maintenance and regeneration in aging and disease, with funding from NIH (NIA, NIAMS), NASA, and former support from NSF and the American Diabetes Association.
- PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Michigan Technological University
- Postdoctoral training in Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic
Research interests include hormonal regulation (glucocorticoids), epigenetic mechanisms (histone deacetylases), nutrient signaling (kynurenine/AhR pathway), and mechanobiological targets for skeletal homeostasis. Her lab explores skeletal interactions with muscle, adrenal glands, and fat depots.
Leadership and service contributions span the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS), American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), and NIH Skeletal Biology Development and Disease study sections.
Teaching spans medical and graduate programs at both the Medical College of Georgia and The Graduate School at Augusta University.
