معرفی
Meghan Burchell is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at McMaster University, where she earned her Ph.D. in 2013. Her research centers on archaeological science methodologies with a specialization in coastal archaeology and paleoenvironmental reconstruction.
Dr. Burchell's primary research interests include:
- Application of sclerochronology and stable isotope analysis to archaeological shell middens
- Reconstruction of prehistoric seasonal subsistence patterns
- Coastal paleoenvironmental dynamics and human-environment interactions
- Development of geochemical proxies for archaeological interpretation
Her recent publications (2014-2025) demonstrate a consistent focus on high-resolution paleoenvironmental reconstruction through biogeochemical analysis of marine organisms. Research trends include methodological refinement of sclerochronological techniques, investigations of climate change impacts on coastal resources, and multi-proxy approaches to archaeological site interpretation across Pacific Northwest, Atlantic Canada, Caribbean, and Eastern Mediterranean regions.
